CMNS 202 / POLI 291: Media and Power in Canadian Society examines the Canadian experience in the context of national and international media developments. These developments include new institutions, ownership structures, and technologies that threaten to destabilize the premises of nationalist media policies, and challenge the central role of the state in the media environment. The course will focus on understanding the patterns of power—political, cultural and economic—that intersect in these processes.
