Managing and motivating people are critical tasks for management, particularly in the context of rapidly changing and competitive organizational environments.

This course focuses on the strategic approach to human resource management, integrating topics from organization behavior and organization theory. It takes a fresh look at topics such as motivation, leadership, culture, recruitment and selection, development, performance management, rewards, and organizational design.

This course is designed to help you realize the role of strategic HRM in organizations. In particular, you will get a good understanding of
 

  • the importance of organizational culture to HRM
  • how individuals are motivated
  • what constitutes effective and ineffective leadership
  • the utilization of teams to achieve organizational objectives
  • the strategic implications of HRM systems such as the human resource flow, performance management, and rewards management
