History/Global Studies 209: A History of the World in the Twentieth Century: I is a three-credit, first-year introduction to twentieth-century world history. The primary objective of the course is to introduce students to the major economic, political, social, scientific, and technological developments in twentieth-century history. The course is based on four broad themes: global interrelatedness, identity and difference, the rise of the mass society, and technology versus nature, which serve as a guide to understanding the material in each unit of the course.
